Cloth Diaper vs MIL

First off let me say I love my Mother-in – law (MIL) she is the sweetest lady ever, but one thing that we can’t get on the same page about is cloth diapers. My husband was also cloth diapered as a baby (lol not that he would be as an adult……at least not yet. LOL) So when LP would go over to grandma and grandpa I could not figure out why she was always in a disposable diaper. At first I was not happy about it but then I thought well if they want to buy the diapers and they watch her for free then ok they can use disposable. so that’s how it has been for the last year and it has worked out just fine. I send LP in cloth and grandma sends the diaper home in a plastic shopping bag (even if I send a wet bag) and LP is in a disposable diaper.

About a month ago I went to go pick up LP and Grandma has a CASE of disposable diapers waiting for me by the door. When I told her to just hang on to the diapers and how we didn’t need them she said she felt bad because she would help my brother-in-law by buying him diapers and she wanted to help us (I would not object to buying some cloth for LP 😉  ) anyways I was in a hurry and no matter what I said she insisted that I take the case, so I did. Hubby loved it. then this month MIL sent home a pack with hubby and he tried to hide it from me by keeping the case in the office (not really hiding from me just delay in me noticing a case of diaper.)

while I appreciate the thought behind the diapers I feel I need to have a talk with MIL and let her know that buying us disposable diapers is not necessary and while she feels she should help us with diapers that they do more than enough for our family.

Montessori Color Matching Game with nesting bowls and balls by The Baby Bungalow Review and Giveaway

I had the pleasure of reviewing a toy from a lovely shop on Etsy called The Baby Bungalow. This shop is run by a wonderful woman named Ashley, from Ocean Springs Mississippi. It was a pleasure getting to know her and the love she puts into her toys because her little one also plays with the toys she makes so you know that she wants her toys to be safe.

The Facts:

The balls and cups are all usa made with untreated chemical free wood.

The wood is super durable and is meant to last for many many years.

She uses a non-toxic water based paint that has the ACMI AP stamp and is also made in the USA.

The sealer that she uses in the shop is made from organic jojoba oil, untreated beeswax and thats it.

Made in Mississippi

Cost: $26.00 Plus Shipping

Things I Liked:

I LOVE THIS TOY!!!!! It’s so versatile!  LP is learning to match colors, stack the bowls, roll the balls to me, and the bowls and balls come with their own bags so when we are all done she helps me put them in their bags. This is truly my favorite toy I have gotten for LP. There are so many different ways to play with this toy so every time is different for your little one so learning is always new and fun for them with this toy. I really can’t say enough about how amazing this toy is. LP puts everything in her mouth so I don’t have to worry about the paint or sealer on the wood because it’s all natural and non-toxic. LP uses her imagination when playing with this toy and I love that it’s something that makes her use her motor skills.

Also this is defiantly a toy that grows with your little one, there are so many different ways to play with this toy, I am confident that this toy will stand the test of time.

Things I Didn’t Like:

There wasn’t really anything that I don’t like about this toy like I said but One thing that I have noticed are that the colors (that are so bright) do fade with time and rub off a little (but no worries it’s natural and non-toxic) But to me this is not a big deal at all! I could always repaint and reseal them my self after a few years.

Over All:

This is an amazing learning tool and toy. I have so much fun watching LP learn and have fun at the same time. I will for sure buy more toys from The Baby Bungalow

If I could I would give this toy more than five stars thats how good it is! but the highest rating I can give is five so that’s what she will get FIVE STARS!!!!!

Now on to the Giveaway!

The owner of The Baby Bungalow is giving away a new memory game called Reach for the stars!

It is on 2 inch square tiles with star cutouts that are from upcycling magazines. The stars are glued/sealed on with non toxic water based sealer, Acmi ap certified and the rest of the tile is sealed in the baby bungalow sealer of jojoba oil and beeswax. Making up for Lost Time

So first of all I know I haven’t posted in FOREVER! and for that I am sorry. But I have been thinking about what I want to post about and there is so much that has gone unsaid.

Cloth related:

LP has been sporting disposables for a few weeks now for a few reasons. Because I just can get yeast out of her cloth. I have striped them like 7 different ways, sun dried them , bleached them so if you know something else that might work please leave a comment. I would be so greatful.

One Year Old Temper Tantrums:

Since LP has turned one she has been overwhelmed with emotions and she just doesn’t know how to deal with them except through temper tantrums. No reason to get myself upset over them I just set her on the floor and let the screaming go out on it’s own. It seems to be working I go about my business while she rolls and kicks and screams on the floor and since I have started that Tantrums have become shorter and less intense. LP (thankfully) is learning to deal with her frustrations in other ways.

Hitting and Biting:

With the retreat of the temper tantrums comes biting and hitting. which is only understandable ( imagine if you couldn’t talk and you were frustrated with something) So we have started “punishing” (lack of a better word) LP.

This is how it goes down. LP Bites/hits I hold her face under her chin so that she has no choice but to look at me in the face and I say “Oucky” twice then I sit her on the ground. at this point she is mad that she is getting punished so the temper tantrum begins but soon ends with my lack of interest. LP only has bit twice (hard) and hit once since we started “punishing” her. 🙂 pretty good.

In closing I have given you the very brief summary of the topics I wanted to write about but just didn’t have the time, and I am sorry about that. Chins up though my next post will be a review and giveaway on a toy!!!!! Excitement!

Happy parenting 🙂
